Why This Role Is Important to Us

To support our current estate and plan for our exciting growth, we’re recruiting for a Building Development Manager on a 6-month fixed term contract. You’ll be delivering construction projects across various locations, including London, the South East, The Midlands, Manchester, and the North of the UK, with nationwide travel as needed.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Building Development Manager, you’ll be the expert managing multiple construction and refurbishment projects for Partou settings. This role blends project management with construction knowledge and an understanding of the unique needs of nursery environments.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Project Management

  • Lead and manage construction and renovation projects from start to finish.
  • Develop project timelines, budgets, and specifications, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, and stakeholders to meet project specifications.

Facility Planning & Design

  • Work with stakeholders to define the spatial and functional requirements of nursery facilities.
  • Ensure designs comply with local regulations, safety standards, and best practices in early childhood education environments.
  • Optimise layouts for safety, accessibility, and efficient use of space.

Regulatory Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all facilities comply with local building codes, health and safety regulations, and other relevant standards.
  • Implement safety protocols and maintenance schedules to maintain a safe environment for children and staff.

Budget Management

  • Prepare and manage budgets for construction, maintenance, and renovation projects.
  • Monitor expenses and adjust to ensure financial efficiency.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all facility-related matters.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and external agencies.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on project status and any issues.

Sustainability & Environmental Considerations

  • Promote sustainable practices in building development, such as energy efficiency and eco-friendly materials.
  • Explore opportunities for green building certifications and improvements.

Success in this role means completing projects on time and within budget, with facilities that meet or exceed quality standards and comply with all relevant regulations. You'll ensure that stakeholders are satisfied with the environment and facilities, and sustainable building practices are implemented. Effective communication and coordination with all stakeholders will be key, ensuring smooth project delivery.
