Full time senior role, up to £30,000.00 per annum salary

Our Payroll Specialist ensures timely and accurate employee payments, supporting them with pay, taxes, and pension queries. This role is crucial for meeting our employment tax obligations and maintaining compliance with current legislation.

What You'll Be Doing

As part of this position, you will be accountable to the Payroll Manager and will oversee the complete payroll procedures, guaranteeing accurate records of all employees in the payroll system. It will be your responsibility to lead enhancements in our processes, primarily focusing on compliance. Furthermore, you will assist payroll administrators, enhancing the team's capabilities to support future expansion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate wages and salaries are paid monthly.
  • Efficiently administer all payroll elements, including tax, NI, statutory payments, and deductions.
  • Understand and apply terms & conditions under TUPE regulations.
  • Continuously improve payroll processes.
  • Stay updated with current payroll and pension legislation.
  • Ensure timely submission of internal and external reports.
  • Administer auto-enrolment processes per legislation.
  • Make accurate pension payments and meet reporting requirements.
  • Support payroll integration during acquisitions.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for payroll queries.
  • Maintain effective communication with colleagues and third parties.
  • Organise and prioritise the team’s workflow to accommodate ad-hoc tasks.

How You'll Succeed

Success in this role means ensuring accurate payments to employees with correct deductions, maintaining a short time period between payroll cut-off, checking and final payment, and achieving full compliance with HMRC regulations, avoiding any penalties or interest. Swift resolution of payroll queries from employees and managers is also a marker of success.

What It Takes

To excel in this role, you will need a recognised Payroll qualification, such as a CIPP Diploma or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards one. It is essential to have experience with computerized payroll systems and a minimum of two years' of payroll experience, ideally with multiple payrolls. Strong time management, organizational skills, in-depth knowledge of payroll legislation, excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (Pivot, Lookup), are also required. A high level of energy and ambition for growth is crucial in our fast-paced, dynamic environment.
